Bamboo Laptop – Green Laptops Are Here!

If you are interested in the new “Green” products but need a new laptop there has been no alternative until now. ASUS has a new Bamboo laptop series that are “Green Laptops”. To be considered to be a green product today you have to demonstrate that you have a product that is friendly to the environment. So how does the ASUS Bamboo shape up as a green laptop?
The models are:
• ASUS U33JC-A1
• ASUS U43JC-A1
• ASUS U43JC-X1
• ASUS U53JC-A1

The U53HC-A1 is a 15.6” Bamboo Laptop. The U43 designates the 14” bamboo laptop and the U33 designates the 13.3” version.

Some of the series has an i3 Intel processor in it while others the i5 processor in it which has more horsepower. So you should be able to find a combination of horsepower and screen size that you desire.

So what makes this a Bamboo Laptop? The answer lies in the fact that there is real bamboo on the outside of the case. ASUS tells us that the lid and the palm rest are made of mature Moso bamboo. Bamboo is well known to be an extremely renewable resource. It is strong and grows very fast.

Still, I found the use of bamboo as surprising. This is the first laptop I am aware of that uses actual wood in place of plastics.

ASUS tells us that they saved 15% plastic usage by the use of the beautiful wood product as well. It changes the normally sterile and shiny laptop look and feel to a softer more natural finish that many people will truly love.

Nor did ASUS skimp on the other Green aspect of the bamboo computer series. It goes through a specific qualification process that none of their other laptops go through.

Vendors are required to be “Green Certified” meaning none of the components have hazardous materials inside. ASUS states that even yearly CO2 emissions are reduced by 12.3KG per notebook.

Further the battery technology is specified to have 35-53% improved efficiency with the Super Hybrid Engine Technology.

“Green” is not just a marketing term for ASUS. They walk the walk as well as talk the talk.

Performance is not reduced either to achieve such an environmentally safe product. The series boasts a 10 hour battery life which beats my personal laptop hands down.
